FAQ

Here you will find all the information you need before, during and after purchasing iGUANEYE products. If you can't find the answer you are looking for, please contact us at hello@iguaneye.com.au

FIT & COMFORT

Getting your size right is very important. The choice of the size is made easier as there are no half-sizes and we always recommend sizing down for a more secure fit.
For the best results, measure the length of your feet using our sizing chart. You can also follow this link to visit our size guide video.

Yes, as we are always receiving inquiries from people asking for larger sizes. Our aim is to extend the size range as soon as possible. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to receive the latest news.

iGUANEYE were not specifically designed to run in but some people have found them very good for short distance jogging. We were very impressed to learn that one of our most active customers succeeded in running a 15km race with our Jungle Light model. Keep in mind that running barefoot requires some adaptation time.

Your JUNGLE LIGHT shoes are fine in the wet. You need the waterproof soles in the FRESHOE if you plan on getting wet and would leave JUNGLE LUX for dry conditions. If your cork inserts are wet, just let them dry at room temperature.

Jungle Lux are a bit more demanding in the beginning. Right out of the box, the Lux soles are a bit rigid. First put your feet on them to ensure you have ordered the right size for your feet. Then you need to literally break them in by bending them with your hands on several points (specially the metatarsal area, just after the toes, where the feet bend the most). This will make them much more flexible. Be sure to put your heel at the very back of the sole.

The size information is on the inside layer of the sole and shoe. Just separate the two and it will be easily visible.

PRODUCT AND CARE

The main body needs no particular care. You can wash it under running water with a little soap and a soft bristle brush. The cork and leather insole can absorb up to 67% of moisture which they rid of naturally. If they are wet, dry them at room temperature (NEVER USE A SOURCE OF HEAT, it could affect the leather). The Suede Leather insoles are 98% made of cork for maximum hygiene and comfort. At the first use the insoles may leave some cork particles inside the main body. This is normal and does not affect their performance. We recommend alternating between two pairs of removable insoles for your Freshoes.

Many of our long-standing customers order new soles each year which prolongs the use of the shoe. Interchanging your soles from the outset will make them last longer and provides different styles and colours so you get multiple shoes in one purchase!

Short answer – no. iGUANEYE are a minimalist shoe brand that allows the muscles in your feet to move naturally, however iGUANEYE also come with arch-support which is important for a lot of people.

Although our iGUANEYE have some arch support, the Jungle models are zero drop when measured at the ends. There is a 3mm drop in the Freshoe model.

Yes! This means you can mix and match styles and colours for a whole new look!

No, not for your Freshoes, but you are able to order additional colour insoles which we recommend for alternating from day to day.

ETHICS, PRODUCTION, MATERIALS

All the components of iGUANEYE are built in a radius of 40km around the beautiful city of Porto in the North of Portugal. Building a close and fair relationship with our suppliers is what made us move to Portugal seven years ago. We are very proud of our local production.

Main bodies (both for Freshoes and Jungle): a specifically formulated TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). These parts are injected into custom made moulds. This allows the iGUANEYEs to get their unique organic design: one piece construction where no glue or seams are needed.

Suede leather insoles: 98% cork + 2% latex, covered with suede leather (also comes in a vegan version). Handmade in Portugal using an innovative technology. A micro-net incorporated into the sole at the moulding stage allows the cork to take various shapes and to support distortions.

Vegan insoles: same construction as the suede leather insoles but a synthetic suede replaces the leather.

Waterproof insoles: EVA foam grid covered with a Coolmax mesh. Lux soles: 65% cork + 35% latex, covered with suede leather. A thin rubber outsole provides good resistance to abrasion.

Light soles: medium density EVA foam

The cork soles in the Freshoe and Jungle LUX are made from trees that are not cut down or damaged when the cork is harvested. These forests are a unique habitat in the Iberian Peninsula and the refuge of various endangered species. Cork is also easily recyclable.

Yes. You can choose vegan-beige and vegan-black insoles for your Freshoes. Freshoes with their waterproof insoles and the Jungle Light are also vegan options as they don't use any animal-based products.
